How To Search For Jobs Online

The Pre-Employment Stage:
The pre-employement stage is the stage before engagement. It is a stage filled with many expectations, hopes and sometimes frustration stemming  from repeated failures, as a result, most applicants loose focus and confidence and even say “There is no job in Nigeria."

Despite the unprecedented number of people filing in for unemployment, the labor market hasn’t come to a complete halt. There are companies who are still hiring. Hence, you should not give up on your job search. Below are few step by step processes on how to search for job online:

Networking: This is the process of interacting with other people to develop professional social contacts and the best place to network is “LinkedIn”. LinkedIn is a social platform that can help you build a profession image and develop professional network if you optimize  your (LinkedIn) account. Here is how:

-Download LinkedIn on your phone and market yourself with a professional picture. You could use your professional resume as a guide. LinkedIn is another marketing tool where you can display your CV to get more networks.
Talk about yourself professionally on the "About me" section, fill up the "Experience" section with your work achievements, your skills set and also your contacts information then follow Recruiters/Hiring Managers, CEOs, professionals in your career on LinkedIn, stay active by liking their posts and engaging in intellectual conversations by commenting on their posts, also create intelligent posts as well so your activity level is increased and you get recognized, hiring managers hunt for candidates mostly on LinkedIn.

-Jobberman: Jobberman is another mobile platform on which to search for job online. While LinkedIn builds a professional network, Jobberman brings more jobs to you. Just as you create a professional image on LinkedIn, you do same for Jobberman but this time create an online resumé by filling up the information and details section on the career profile section with details that include your professional summary, work achievements, responsibilities and professional certifications (if any), volunteer experience for 'Applicants without any active work experience'. Alternatively you could upload your CV as a file however, filling you the career profile until you are checked 99% complete is key!!

-Click on “find me a job” icon and then click on the search filters to edit the location, industry and work type you are looking for and search! Series of job adverts will be on list, based on your preference and then you can apply. However, it is essential to edit your application info if you are applying for more multiple roles, you have to edit your cover letter to suit the role you are applying for

-Indeed: Indeed is another app just like Jobberman where you can apply for jobs online, repeat the process on Indeed, build an online resumé and fill up all the required information on your career profile, search and apply. Do the same for related job sites such as Job Guru, Jobs Today, NG Careers and Careersome

-Register your email for job alerts on the above sites and check your emails regularly.
